MM1020:
Evaluation, Outcomes Measurement, and Research: Important Components
of Decision Making
One
of the most commonly overlooked areas in the process of designing
and implementing case management is the evaluation component.
While often neglected, it is by far among the most critical elements.
Today's
organizations are data driven, and case management evaluation
and research data is among the most robust data available in health
care delivery settings. What makes the data unique and beneficial
is its focus on the combination of clinical, financial and quality
issues. Unlike much of the data collected prior to case management,
it does not compartmentalize the information, but places it in
a context which makes it of use to practitioners, administrators
and regulatory bodies.
Finally, outcomes data seeks to answer many of the questions being
raised in health care today in terms of efficacy and cost of care.
This course provides a unique look into this complex and growing
area for case management.

“Chronic
Illness: Impact and Interventions"
Fifth Edition
by Ilene
Morof Lubkin, RN, MS, GNP, California State Univ. Pamela
D. Larsen, RN, Ph.D, CRRN, Wichita State Univ. School
of Nursing
|
The
fifth edition of this popular text continues to focus
on the many factors that influence clients and families
dealing with chronic illness including the sociological,
psychological, ethical, cultural, organizational, and
financial aspects of chronic illness. It is the only book
on the market that looks specifically at the psychosocial
issues of chronic illness, and not just the physical aspects
of the disease. The focus is on the illness experience
and not the disease from the medical point of view. New
content includes chapters on powerlessness, home health
care, politics and policy, and long term care.
